چکیده
Weeds are problematic and burdensome to many smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe. The continued existence of allelochemicals plants inhibit weed seed germination, plant growth nutrient uptake. A study was carried out assess the effects sorghum species on germination dry matter accumulation different soil types at Duncanstan Farm Featherstone, 3x3 factorial experiment laid a completely randomized design (CRD) with nine treatment combinations replicated four times. Soil type first factor sand, loam clay soils. Sorghum extracts, arundinacea halepense, formed second factor, control had no extract. All showed significant p<0.05 reduction germinated weeds treated S. halepense water extracts compared control. There decrease mean fresh seedlings both treatments all types. In sand soil, weights were 33.4g 36.3g respectively as 58.2g. Similarly, 15.4g 14.9g. conclusion, possess allelopathic which can be used for effective management. It is recommended that conserved bio-herbicides development synthetic herbicides.

Allelopathic Effects of Amygdalus scoparia, Daphne mezereum, and Ebenus stellata on Seed Germination Percentage of Important Under-Floor Species
Introduction: Allelopathy refers to the plants’ mutual biochemical effects. Despite their significant role in improving and restoring Iranian rangelands, the plants’ allelopathic effects on each other have often been neglected in rangeland seeding. Scholars argue that in stressful conditions of the arid areas caused by low precipitation, the effects of metabolic chemicals secreted by allelochem...

Allelopathy is one of the main factors limiting the plants growth. The present study investigated the effect of aqueous extract of leaves and fruit of Artemisia sieberi that is an important species for rangeland rehabilitation on seed germination and seedling growth of three alfalfa species (Medicago sativa cv. Nikshahri, Medicago polymorpha and Medicago scutellata cv. Robinson) in laboratory ...
متن کاملNitrogen Fertilizer and Crop Residue Effects on Seed Mortality and Germination of Eight Annual Weed Species
Weed seed persistence in the soil seedbank is central to weed population dynamics; however, limited knowledge of mechanisms regulating seed survival in soil remains an obstacle to developing seed-bank management practices. Weed seeds are rich in carbon and nitrogen, and therefore may represent an important nutritional resource to soil microbes. The objective of this study was to test the hypoth...
